I have been working around the theme of the Queen and the crowned X-ray for quite some time now.
The X-ray is the perfect example for me of how we all look the same underneath and the first class stamp with an X-rayed Queen profile reiterates this idea.
Further more the font 1st of the stamp allows to add an extra layer of reading for this artwork.
The X-rayed profile is completely anonymous but at the same time the stamp bears the writing: 1st
Royal Book is collection of 16 coloured first class stamps with my X-rayed Queen profile. Those who know my work are familiar with my colours and how I like juxtaposing them in arrays or series. Royal Book is another example of it .
The crisp glossy C-type print is sandwiched between a 3 mm aluminium sheet and a 4 mm acrylic glass. This is my favourite way of presenting my work. The glossiness of the acrylic glass enhances the colours of the image and at the same time protects the print. This piece is frameless and contemporary. Ready to hang thanks to the subframe at the back.
