First Lady and Royal Book are my homage to the iconic U.K. First Class Stamp which features HRH, The Queen.
This re-interpretation uses my X- Ray of the Queen’s profile combined with the well known 1st font used on the first class stamp.
What I want to convey with this series is that all humans are equal: regardless of crowns and jewels we wear, we all look the same under the skin.
Furthermore the iconic 1st font of the stamp is a reflection on the concept of first. The rush to be first on life and the struggle of the last. Once again the position 1st has very little relevance if we look at the bigger picture and refer to my message of equality.
First Lady is Digitally printed on brushed silver aluminium in a slim black aluminium frame. The print is signed on the reverse. Available in three colourways, it works well displayed on its own, in a pair but visually is particularly striking as a complete set.
Royal Book is a larger piece composed of 16 colourful stamps arranged in rows of 4. C-type print mounted on dibond with 4mm acrylic glass.
Edition of 16 measuring 100x84 cm.
